A virtuoso pianist, Evgenia Chudinovich has changed her original name to the stage name GéNIA in 2000. She has a highly eclectic repertoire, embracing both mainstream classics, new music and multimedia projects. Her approach is to innovate and startle. She believes in the syncretism of arts and brings visuals and staging into her live performances. GéNIA was described by The Times as "..an outstanding musician. She knows how to communicate with her audience, and has the virtuosity of not just fingers but hands and arms that marks her out as a natural pianist." (8 January 1998)

Her studies began with her great grandmother, outstanding Ukrainian teacher Regina Horowitz, the sister of Vladimir Horowitz, in her native Ukraine at the age of four. She continued at the School for Gifted Children, made her television debut on Ukrainian TV and broadcast several times on Ukrainian radio. Later she continued her education with Sergei Yushkevitch in Ukraine. Since 1994 GéNIA has lived in London where she has won scholarships to the Guildhall and Trinity Colleges of Music as well as receiving numerous awards from musicians trusts such as the Myra Hess, Craxton and Leche Trusts. Recently she has been awarded a Silver Medal from the Worshipful Company of Musicians. She holds six instrumental diplomas, including the highly prized Premier Prix from the Guildhall School and a Masters Degree with Distinction in Modern Music from Trinity College, where she studied with Douglas Finch.

In 1997 GéNIA was awarded a debut recital at the South Bank Centre, London, from the Park Lane Group as an outstanding young artist. She received glowing reviews from the national press, and in the two years since has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician in the UK (London : Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room at the South Bank Centre, Barbican Centre, St. Martin-in-The-Fields, St. John's Smith Square; Oxford, Cambridge, Brighton), Germany (Hamburg, Munich and Schloss Elmaur), France (Paris), USA (Northridge, California) , Cyprus (Nicosia, Larnaka, Paphos and Lemesos) and Ukraine. Name: Serg van Gennip
Skills: Soloist (Young Dutch Pinanist)
Fax: +31 15 2570315
Address: Delft, Netherlands
Links: Website     E-mail

SERG VAN GENNIP was born as Sergei Dianov in Kazan, Russia, in 1985. Serg lived in Leningrad (St. Petersburg) until the age of five. At this age, he left the Soviet Union and lived in Germany for three years. Afterward he moved to Delft in The Netherlands. Since his very early childhood, Serg has liked listening to operas, visiting ballet performances and concerts of classical music. Serg began to study piano at the age of nine. His first teacher was his mother Olga Dianova. She prepared him for the conservatory. He passed an exam at the Conservatory in the Hague when he was eleven years old, where he studied with Kamilla Bystrova for five years. Now, he studies at the piano-class of pianist Michael Davidson at the Rotterdam Conservatory.

At the age of thirteen, Serg won the televised competition for young talents, named Solo for a Child, after which he became quite well-known in the Netherlands. But this was more of a show for Serg, because he does not support any sort of competitions. His opinion is that music cannot be seen as a ``sport''. His first solo recital took place in a large hall in the city of the Hague, when he was fourteen. At the age of sixteen, he had his first orchestral concert with the State Orchestra of Tatarstan (La Primavera) in Kazan.

Influences that had an impact on his musical life are especially three major pianists of the 20th century, Sergei Rachmaninov, Vladimir Horowitz and Sviatoslav Richter. Most important influences for Serg were, without a doubt, all the great composers with various styles.

Serg van Gennip also has a hobby: painting different landscapes. This is probably related to his musical talent, because ideas for these paintings were born while playing many beautifully colored musical pieces. Besides a large number of pieces, many of his paintings are also to be found on his internet site: http://www.serg.vangennip.com .

Name: Solène "Solène Getenet" Getenet
Skills: Arranger, Player, Soloist, pianist (http://www.solene-getenet.com )
Address: France

Solène Getenet was born near Paris in 1984. She started playing the piano and the violoncello at the age of four. She fisrt was the pupil of Lucette Descaves, one of the most famous french pedagogues, then of Marie-Paule Siruguet ( Boulogne-Billancourt National Music Academy) and Hubert Guillard. Now she is studying with Romano Pallotini, Nicholas Angelich and Paul Badura-Skoda. In 1995, Solene began her career as a concert pianist. She performed in two concerts with the orchestra in Versailles and Paris (Cortot Concert Hall) and also performed in several recitals, among others in Rennes, Paris and surroundings. In 1996, she was went on her first musical tours through Martinique, Tahiti and Belgium, and she also played in the Gaveau Hall in Paris. In March 1999, Solène won the First Prize in the "Claude Kahn competition", then she stood out at the "International Liszt Festival in Munster" and got the gold medal in the Boulogne-Billancourt National Academy. In 2000, Solène got a first Prize at the "Sucy-en-Brie competition", a first medal in the "Claude Kahn four hands competition", the honorary prize at the "Royaume de la Musique competition" and the first prize (with one consent) at the " Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche competition". She has also been the recipient of various international prizes : in Germany (French-German competition) and Italy (Premio Gramsci competition). In the beginning of 2001, she got many prizes including prizes in the "Wurmser", "Vulaines" and "French-Chinese" competitions. Solène has worked under the guidance of such great names as Abdel Rahman El Bacha, Aldo Ciccolini, Béchara El Khoury , Bertrand Ott, Anne Queffelec, Boaz Sharon, Einar Steen-Nokleberg, Claude Helffer, Marie-Françoise Bucquet, Leslie Howard, Evgeny Moguilevsky, Claude Kahn...

Newspapers Cuttings "Much confidence in her technique, much sensitivity in her phrasing, reminiscent of an early Martha Argerich. One can already sense the makings of a great pianist." Michel Cattelain "At 11 years old, Solène is already a dazzling artist possessing a mastery of her talent and an exceptional power of concentration." P.G Turahiti, Tahiti Matin "Very lively at the keyboard, Solène demonstrated not only a remarkable sensitivity but also a thrilling vigor at the keyboard. Whether accompanied or solo at the piano, Solène Getenet possessed the same comfort and confidence to the delight of the audience, which was astounded by the precocity and the maturity of the young girl." F.S, Les dernières Nouvelles d'Alsace The combination of her great modesty and simplicity, the joy radiating from her face, and her already great talent transported me to a world of bliss." R Lenormand "This so gifted and open minded pianist." Bertrand Ott "It seems to me the Solène definitely possesses all the qualities to be able to envision a beautiful career: magnificent musical qualities and a pianistic essence." Edith Canat de Chizy "Solène is an exceptional pianistic talent with a fine musical temperament and excellent technique. Her playing also has a remarkable individuality that is so often lacking in the playing of even very advanced pianists with more experience." Boaz Sharon "I've had 184 students. Among them, there have been some particularly gifted students, true. But Solène is truly unique, even extraordinary. It's the first time I've seen this. And what does the word "student" mean when such a gift is present? Of course, the work is necessary but with Solène sometimes, I no longer teach, I just listen and reflect." Désiré N'Kaoua It was surprising to see such intuitiveness and naturalness in the young pianist's playing. She didn't falter once, on the contrary, she exhibited a masterful understanding of the content of the music, such that one would not expect from so young a pianist. It was also fascinating to notice how profoundly the French pianist grasped the rather bitter musical thoughts of this very German composer. Friedrich-W. v. Oppeln-Bronikowski
