Mr. Aerie was the cellist of the Nacht String Quartet, the University of Colorado's Graduate Quartet from 2000 to 2002. Mentored by the Grammy-winning Takacs Quartet, the Nacht won both first prize and the audience choice award in the Bruce Ekstrand Memorial Competition in December 2001. They were then invited to be the inaugural quartet in an exchange and residency program with the Hans Eisler Conservatory in Berlin. Subsequently, the Quartet spent 8 weeks in Germany, performing in Berlin, Lichterfelde, and Bielefeld.
At the University of Colorado, Mr. Aerie was Principal Cellist of the CU Symphony and Opera Orchestras. He was a frequent guest on many student and faculty recitals, both with the Nacht Quartet and as a soloist. While in Southern California he was a regular cellist in many orchestras, including the Riverside Philharmonic, the San Bernardino Symphony, the Los Angeles Debut Orchestra, and the Golden State Pops. While in the Washington, D.C. area Mr. Aerie performed with the National Philharmonic, Maryland Symphony, Baltimore Concert Artists, Fairfax Symphony, Roanoke Symphony, Alexandria Symphony, and the National Cathedral Orchestra. Additionally, he performed for various dignitaries, including Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of Veterans' Affairs Anthony Principi, foreign ambassadors, and members of congress at such venues as the Kennedy Center, Strathmore Hall, the Library of Congress, and the Smithsonian museums.
Mr. Aerie enjoys teaching and maintains an active studio. Instructing cellists of all ages and abilities, his students have distinguished themselves in state and regional competitions and orchestras, and in school and scholarship auditions. Mr. Aerie has conducted master classes and coached various ensembles, and he is sought after as a judge for competitions and auditions. While at Oberlin, he was Instructor of Cello in both the Conservatory's String Preparatory Program and the Secondary Lesson Program. He also coached and conducted for the Washington D.C. Youth Orchestra Program, the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Capital Cello Circle. Breaking out of the 'classical mold', Mr. Aerie has played electric cello for various bands, ensembles, and solo artists. He has written string arrangements for recordings, played for film, television, and audio sessions, and performed at some of the most renowned clubs in L.A., Hollywood, Santa Monica, and Laguna Beach. Mr. Aerie can be heard on two recordings for the Vitamin Records label, the Frozen Food Section Records, and United Artists Publishing.

| Sonja Beets finished her studies as pianist and organ player at the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam. After her study she specialized in chamber music with George van Renesse, Nelly Wagenaar and by taking part in master classes both in the Netherlands and abroad, i.e. with Györgi Sebök. Furthermore she studied non-western philosophy, culture and music. While doing so she has learned to play an Indian bow-instrument -the Sarangi- in the dhrupad-style (oldest devote style).
Besides performing music she is active as a composer, painter and poet. A bundle of her poems was published on her own account and she has had several expositions of her paintings. She made a serious start in composing in 1989, stimulated to do so by Györgi Sebök, Martijn van den Hoek, Herman Ulhorn, Bernard Kruysen, Hans Zomer, Elly Ameling… She likes to write compositions suited personally for the people that take part in her own ensemble "Purusha". For this ensemble she created a variety of music, both instrumental and vocal.
After several years of teaching, performing and doing expositions Sonja Beets is now bringing these different disciplines into integration in herself and with others. She took the initiative to start the "Muzenstede" Foundation in 1997. This foundation aims to further the integration and symbiosis between men and art and between the different disciplines of art.
In the year 2000 she undertook to develop a musical tour called the “Muzikale Stadswandeling” in Wijk bij Duurstede (the Netherlands). For this project she set nine poems by the Dutch poet Willem de Mérode to music. She associated these poems with as many characteristic locations in this little town. The poems have been set to music for various combinations of instruments and voices, and recordings of these songs can be hired at the local tourist office, together with a brochure. This project acquired recognition both by the Dutch classical radio and regional television. The project was fully financed by the Muzenstede Foundation. Sonja Beets made her official debut as a composer with the presentation of this cycle of songs. In 2003 she finished composing a chamber opera on a libretto by Tom Sol after a story by Voltaire: “De Argeloze” (l’Ingénu). In 2005 she presented a special project about Flemish cultural heritage in Belgium, in which she integrated several different forms of art. Her work for carillon 'Had we the wings...' has been elected as obligatory work at the public exams 2009 for the highest grade students of the KONINKLIJKE BEIAARDSCHOOL “JEF DENYN” in Mechelen (B). She works and gives concerts with others artists, for whom she also writes new compositions.
