The New York Times described him as "...audacious...multitalented." Joseph Pehrson, writing in The Music Connoisseur, described Pritsker as "dissolv[ing] the artificial boundaries between high brow, low brow, classical, popular musics and elevates the idea that if it's done well it is great music, regardless of the style or genre". Raul d'Gama Rose writes in All About Jazz: "Barring the obvious exceptions, much of 21st century composition appears to be thinning in significance, but this might be about to change. Gene Pritsker is one of a very spare handful of composers effecting this change."

As Enzo, I am one half of Duo Piccolo e Grande playing Italian baroque sonatas on mandolino and hurdy-gurdy, accompanied by theorbo. As Dante Ferrara, I play for costumed special events and concerts using my huge repertoire of late Tudor and Jacobean entertainment. I have recorded seven albums, the most recent three being solo (as DF). My TV appearances are numerous and my most recent session was for the film 'The White Princess' - a Tudor drama by Philippa Gregory.
My performances have taken me across the world. Beyond Europe, I have played in Western Australia and California.

| Born in Lisbon in 1959; improviser, composer - violin, viola, electronics. His main interest shifted towards contemporary improvised and composed music, as well as indeterminate and graphic scores by Gerhard Stäbler. Studies with contemporary composer Emmanuel Nunes.
The relationship with his instruments is focused in sonic and textural elements. Electronic music was an early influence on his approach to violin playing, which challenges traditional romantic concepts of the violin/viola through use of preparations and micro tuning.
Has created music for films, dance, performance, video, etc. Active in different settings on the Portuguese scene for free improvised music, both as a collaborator and in leading his own groups.
Has performed at festivals all over Europe. Has created the record label Creative Sources Recordings in 1999, wich mainly concentrates on releasing experimental and electro-acoustic music.

| I was Trained in classical piano at an early age, but forcibly, so I hated it. Wasn't until about age 17 that I rediscovered the piano on my own (Grandma's baby grand) and rekindled my love for music, and opened the creative doors within myself. Bought a Roland linear synth shortly thereafter, and went nuts. Played keyboard for a Rock band, and recorded abstract stuff with another keyboardist, using an early MOOG synth, and an old ARP Oddysey. Put together a blues band with Gerry Ellenson (he's one of your reviewers here) called "Swine Blue", and had the time of my life. We've collaborated on a few MIDI's recently. Since that magic day on Grandma's baby grand, 23 years ago, I have become quite adept at playing the guitar (12 string acoustic, 6 string classical and an electric (Fender Strat), somewhat adept with the violin (4 of 'em), alto and tenor saxophone, harmonica (blues harp), and most recently, the computer. I do most of my sequencing with cakewalk, but also employ various other multitrackers including N-Track studio, as well as a myriad of sequencers, and other music related software for composition. The PC opened a lot of doors for me, musically. I'm a web developer by trade ( www.artfulspider.com ), and have a built-in need for creative expression, which I feed regularly. On the job, my efforts are primarily visual, but in the wee hours of the night, I make music until I pass out in my chair. Favorite music includes anything by Rick Wakeman, Pink Floyd, The Mighty Flyers, Yes, Kansas, ELP, Pat Methany, Lyle Mays, Thelonius Monk, Al Dimeola, and Beethoven.

| One of Martin Rummel's most treasured possessions is a signed copy of Alfred Schnittke's cello sonata, acquired as a result of his work with the composer some years ago. Schnittke was one of many composers who have been associated with Martin Rummel since he was sixteen – an indication of a musician with both depth and breadth of musical interests. Martin Rummel began his studies in 1982 at the age of eight, his main teachers being Maria Kliegel and William Pleeth. He graduated from Linz Bruckner Conservatory in 1991 and Cologne Musikhochschule in 1997, in both places with highest merits.
His exceptionally broad repertoire (including more than 35 cello concertos) ranges from the Baroque to contemporary works, containing the main standard repertoire together with a particular interest in rarely played works of the 19th and 20th centuries and the cross-over to Jazz and Popular Music. Another important part of his work is the collaboration with composers, which so far has resulted in ca 20 premieres, amongst them Graham Whettam's Solo Cello Sonata (1993) and the Cello Concertos by Helmut Rogl (1994), Helmut Schmidinger (1994) and Graham Whettam (2000). Martin Rummel has also played many national first performances, e.g. Sofia Gubaidulina's "In Croce" (China 1999), Morton Feldman's Piano Trio (Italy 2000) and Howard Blake's "Diversions" (Germany 1993 and Austria 1997). During the last few years, he has played in Düsseldorf Tonhalle, Vienna Konzerthaus, the Krannert Center in Urbana, at the "Carinthischer Sommer", the "Varna Summer" and "La Biennale di Venezia".
Chamber music with distinguished partners such as pianists Yuri Boukoff, Paul Gulda and Ian Hobson, violinists Dénes Zsigmondy and Nora Chastain, clarinetist Eduard Brunner or the Anton Bruckner Quartett is also a major part of his concert activities. Since 2000, he has been artistic director of the festival "kammerMUSIK" in Wilhering, Austria.
In addition to his playing career, Martin Rummel is now more and more focusing on teaching, and recent master classes include the International Summer Academy in Lenk, Switzerland, on special invitation of Kurt Pahlen, and Tianjin Music Academy, China. Since October 2000, he has been teaching at Kassel Music Academy.
