Musica Mundi is a baroque chamber group based in the Southwest of England, specialising in music from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries. It aims to use baroque style and instruments to communicate this exciting music to audiences as vividly as possible.
The core of the group is a chamber ensemble of voice, cello and harpsichord. For larger-scale concerts the group can expand to include full strings and/or wind instruments. It has given concerts in many parts of Britain, and in Europe.
In addition to the Baroque repertoire, members of the group are interested in contemporary writing for early instruments, and have commissioned and given first performances of new music.
Musica Mundi takes considerable care over the planning of its programmes, aiming at variety within programmes of a satisfying overall shape. Programmes can be tailored to the interests of a particular audience if desired.
