| ALEXEI STEBLEV cello Alexei Steblev was born in 1972 in Moscow, Russia and began playing cello at the age of 6. His studies took place at the Gnessin school of music and Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory with Prof. I.Gavrysh. He gave his first public performance at the age of nine in the Rachmaninov Hall performing the J.C.Bach Concerto with the Moscow Conservatory Orchestra. Alexei has appeared in recitals and concertos all over Russia in cities such as Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev, Minsk, Novosibirsk, Gorky, Odessa and many others. In 1988 he won the First prize on the "Concertino Prague" international competition followed by numerous engagements in Eastern European festivals. In 1990 he made a tour in Great Britain. The following year Alexei was invited to join string «Moscow-quartet». In 1993, being the member of this ensemble, he become a prize-winner of the Shostakovitch international string quartet competition in St.Petersburg. Lately he has appeared in several international music festivals including Evian, Braunschweig, Istanbul, Belgrade, Bregenz, Florence, Salzburg, Al-Kuwait... performing quartets and other chamber ensembles in collaboration with the "Borodine" quartet, Alexandre Rudine, Martin Lovett, Konstantin Lifshitz and many others. In 1995 the «Moscow-quartet» has recorded the world-premier CD of the complete works written by A.S.Taneev for "Olympia records"(London), in 1998 group recorded CD of selected works for quartet commissioned by Moscow Government. Since 1995 Alexei Steblev combines quartet playing with leadership of cello group in chamber orchestra «Arpeggione», Hohenems, Austria. Since 1998 Alexei is an assistant of Prof. I.Gavrysh in Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
