The Aberdeen City Youth Wind Quintet is a young ensemble which was formed a year ago by a group of young musicians aged between 14 and 18 who attended the Aberdeen Music Centre.
Since its formation, it has went from strength to strength. Under the leadership of young Conductor/Director Alan Duguid, the group has captured various awards and competition titles, most recently attaining first place with an outstanding qualification in the Aberdeen Music Festival Open Wind Ensembles Category, competing against top ensembles from all over Scotland.
At present, the quintet consists of the following musicians: Flute - Shantha Roberts(17) Oboe - Louisa MacPherson(18) Clarinet - Tom Lessels(17) French Horn - Kirsteen Kelman(17) Bassoon - Iona Garvie(15) Conductor/Director - Alan Duguid(17)
Being a conducted wind quintet with members all preparing to study music at conservetoires throughout the U.K. , the quintet has many challanging works in its repetoire alongside entertaining ones. It has had many performances at both small functions and Formal concerts, most recently, at the RSNO concert in Aberdeen. The group are entirley pupil run and are keen to perform. Having such a large repetoire and performance experience, the quintet are available for a variety of different events!
