Hailed as one of the finest chamber orchestras in the country, London Concertante will be celebrating their 10th Anniversary season during 2000/2001.
Since their inception in 1991 London Concertante has given concerts throughout the UK and toured extensively in Europe. In London they regularly perform a series of 'Candlelight' concerts at St. Martin-in-the-Fields to packed houses, they have played in all three concert halls at the South Bank with regular sell out concerts in the Queen Elizabeth Hall and this year gave their debut at the Barbican Hall. 2000 has also seen the start of a new series of concerts focusing on the music of British 20th century composers which began with a concert in the Queen Elizabeth Hall and saw their return to St. John's Smith Square after an absence of six years.
The orchestra's schedule of music club and festival performances continues to grow and during the past year they have given performances around the country including Bristol, Huddersfield, Taunton, Newbury, Brighton, Southend as well as the home counties. London Concertante are delighted to build on its recently instigated education programme tying in workshops with music club performances - an area of work that the players find both vital and immensely rewarding.
London Concertante is increasingly in demand as an orchestra for choral societies and opera companies and will be joining three opera companies on national tours during spring and summer 2001. They have recorded 4 CDs which have been broadcast on both Classic FM and BBC Radio.
