A conductor of "unerring, warm-toned refinement, revealing judicious glimmers of power," Devorah Ciaravino captured worldwide attention in September 2001 when she won the Gold Medal at the First International Conducting Competition in Florence, Italy. With this victory, Devorah became the first woman to win first prize in a Italian conducting competition. This summer Ciaravino was the associate conductor for the productions of Verdi's La Traviata and Puccini's Turandot for the Festivale Opera Fiesolana 2003 in Fiesole, Italy. After claiming First-Prize in the Accademia Dell'Arte International Conductors Competition, Devorah has been performing throughout Italy on a regular basis with such orchestras as the Sinfonia di Firenze, Sinfonia Dell'Arte, Orchestra Sinfonica di Grosetto, and the Orchestra Opera Fiesolana. In addition, Devorah has also guest conducted such orchestras as the Los Angeles Mozart Orchestra, Gulf Coast Symphony, Varna Philharmonic and Plevin Philharmonic. In 1999-2000, Ciaravino participated in two public concerts with the Varna Philharmonic which were broadcast throughout Bulgaria. She was immediately invited to return to Bulgaria the following summer to study and perform with the Plevin Philharmonic. In 1998, Ciaravino was invited to study and perform with the Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic in the Czech Republic as a part of the 11th International Workshop for Conductors. In the spring of 1997, Ciaravino participated in a master class with Franz Welser-Möst under the sponsorship of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Corwin Seminars. In addition, future engagements include guest conducting with the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra and Capetown Philharmonic in South Africa and Sinfonia di Firenze in Italy. Ciaravino currently serves as Associate Conductor for the Asia America Symphony, Los Angeles and as Principal Guest Conductor for the Sinfonia di Firenze, Italy.
Ciaravino received her Master's Degree in orchestral conducting from the University of Hartford. She received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Southern California.
