| | Jiang Shangrong was born in 1971, in Shandong, China. He started learning singing at the age of 20, having won a place at the Shandong College of Arts. From 1994 until 1996 he worked as an announcer at the Shandong People’s Radio station and at the Radio station “Culture and Art”. In 1996 Shangrong won a place at the Shanghai Conservatoire of Music studying under professor Lao Changyong, which he graduated from in 1999. During his studies at the Conservatoire Shangrong gave lots of concerts, including recordings at the Shanghai Ost Radio Station. Since 2000 he has been studying as a Postgraduate student at the Moscow State Conservatoire named after Tchaikovsky, studying under Professor Boris Kudryavtzev. During this period he has given a lot of concerts in Moscow and other cities of Russia. In 2001 he became a prizewinner of the Moscow Spring Music Festival (3rd prize). He became a Diploma winner at the International Vocal Competition “Bella Voce” (2001, 2002).The following year Shangrong took part in the Samara International Festival “Young stars of the XXI century”. In 2002 he started working as an opera singer at the Opera Theatre of the Moscow State Conservatoire where he appeared in such parts as Germon (“La Traviata” by Verdi), Escamillo (“Carmen” by Bizet) etc.
