| Through his concerts, workshop teaching, and writing, Andrew seeks to inspire an appreciation of the organ literature of the fourteenth to early nineteenth centuries. His playing is based on an understanding of historic instruments and the techniques of performance that give life to the early repertoire. Andrew's recital programmes are built around the individual organ and venue, and can feature an individual composer, a focused theme or a broader introduction to a period or school of composition.
Andrew’s two CDs feature the world’s first recording of all the liturgical organ works of Thomas Tallis, recorded on the early 17th century organ at Knole. They are released on the Signum label’s Tallis series – the complete liturgical organ works on Tallis Vol 5: Music for the Divine Office (SIGCD016) and the remaining organ works on Tallis Vol 9: Instrumental Music and Songs (SIGCD042).
Andrew’s book, ‘The Performance of Early Organ Music’, has proved an invaluable, and gentle, introduction to performance practice. Andrew is also a concert and CD review, notably through his regular column in Early Music Review.
